Torrijas - bread soaked in milk and fried in egg and olive oil.
What do the Spanish eat at Easter? EGGY BREAD! Torrijas - bread soaked in milk and fried in egg and olive oil. YUM! Amost as good as the Passover equivalent, Matzo (unleavened bread) soaked in milk and egg and fried....

No Passover at all in the Basque Country! I don't know hat you ight have been told in your lovely Basque-Multicultural-Ghetto of Somera eta other streets in el Casco Viejo, but there have been few peoples more acutely racist than Sabiniano Basques, who abhorred Castilians and other Spaniards as being subhuman etc. etc. and were extremely proud of not having a vestige of Jewish or Moorish blood. Sorry if I have destroyed you idyllic view of us Basques. By the way, I am a thoroughbred, beret-wearing, thick-necked-broad-shouldered Basque.

Thanks for your comment Eloisa. I want to write about some of these issues in a later post. Yes, the Basques include racists just like every other people, but nowadays there are clearly some very progressive and inclusive versions of Basque nationalism... 24/8/2020 11:24:30 pm
