Room to rent in East Oxford
We live most of the time in Italy and are seeking to let a room in our house in Oxford to a lodger. We retain the house as our base in the UK, but we are likely to be resident in it for only about 30% of the year, so the lodger will be able to use the house much as a tenant would for much of the time. The situation would be ideal for a postgraduate, young professional or similar.
The house is situated in the Magdalen Road / Iffley Fields area of East Oxford, a popular, pleasantly mixed area where many teachers, lecturers and students live, one mile from the centre of town. There's a bus stop to town two minutes' walk from the house. Within five minutes' walk of the house there are several nice cafes, pubs and restaurants (including the wonderful Magdalen Arms and Oli's Thai), and various shops. There are two Co-ops a few minutes' walk away, and all the shops and restaurants on the Cowley Road are 10 to 15 minutes' walk away. The street is very quiet and friendly.
The house has two double bedrooms. The front room (lodger's room) is currently set up as a study with a sofabed but will be rearranged (in consultation with the lodger) with bed, desk, wardrobe, shelves, etc. Downstairs there is living room (with sofabed), dining room, kitchen, bathroom and conservatory. There is a small and very pleasant garden with two patio areas, table and chairs, garden bench. The house is full of books.
We would charge the 'going rate' for a room of this sort in East Oxford, which is £600, which includes a contribution to bills (gas, electricity, water, wi-fi, tv, council tax).
