House to rent in East Oxford
We will be away on sabbatical for a year from September 2012 to July 2013 and are seeking to rent our house out for the year. The house would be suitable for a visiting academic or similar, and for a single person or couple.
The house is situated in the Magdalen Road / Iffley Fields area of East Oxford, a popular, pleasantly mixed area where many teachers, lecturers and students live, one mile from the centre of town. There's a bus stop to town two minutes' walk from the house. Also within two minutes' walk of the house there are four nice cafes (including the wonderful Oxfork, arguably the best cafe in Oxford), two nice pubs (including the wonderful Magdalen Arms, arguably the best place to eat in Oxford), and three good corner shops. There are two Co-ops a few minutes' walk away, and all the shops and restaurants on the Cowley Road are 10 to 15 minutes' walk away. The street is very quiet and friendly.
The house has two double bedrooms, but the second bedroom is set up as a study with double sofabed for guests. Downstairs there is living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and conservatory. There is a small and very pleasant garden with two patio areas, table and chairs, garden bench. The house is full of books, which could be left in situ or moved, or a combination.
The 'going rate' for a house like this in this part of Oxford is in the £900 - £1000 range per month. We would be seeking to rent it for £900. In addition, council tax, water, gas and electricity bills amount to approximately £250 per month.
